Indian 3G Mobile Subscribers to Rise 80% by 2013 Top
Indian mobile market has undergone a revolutionary change during the past few years to become one of the leading mobile markets on the global map. Wireless teledensity has also risen, but still there is a vast scope for further improvement because of a wide gap in teledensity between urban and rural areas. The deployment of 3G services at national level will play a vital role in bridging this huge gap. According to a new research report "Indian 3G Mobile Forecast to 2012", the number of 3G mobile subscribers is expected to grow at a CAGR of around 80% during 2011 – 2013. The growth in the number of 3G mobile subscribers will largely depend on the strategies adopted by successful 3G operators to attract mobile subscribers characterized as price-sensitive. As handsets is becoming an integral part of the consumer experience, the availability of a large number of feature-rich handsets at affordable prices or in attractive bundled offers is likely to further drive the adoption of 3G value-added services. 3G is emerging as an accepted technology platform across geographies as it can deliver high speed data and voice on a single network. The research identifies that 3G, if used as a data card/modem, will give impetus to the broadband penetration in the country. One of the reasons for low growth in the Indian broadband market is the challenge of providing high bandwidth connectivity using landlines, especially in remote areas.
